Will the oil spill hit the panhandle and ruin the beaches?
Ok. You know about the big oil spill that happened right? Ok well im really scared because on June 19 we are leaving for Florida. We are going to the panhandle of Florida. I think its called Cape Saun Blas or something like that. This vacation is really special because we are taking our 2 dogs and my best friend. Also this is the first time we got to go to the beach as a family and im really looking forward to going. The whole point of going is to play in the ocean with our dogs but if the oil spill gets it we wont be able to get it. Or what if they dont get it cleaned up in time. Here is the 2 questions, Do you think the oil will get to where were going and if it does hit will they be able to clean it up in time? Please im really nervous an don’t want this vacation to be ruined.

Well I think the larger concern is the effect that this will have on wildlife, on peoples ability to have work and the overall effect on the environment. Many people will lose their livelihood for the rest of their life because of this spill and potentially thousands of people will lose their jobs. In light of that I think that while your vacation is important to you, in the big scheme of things it’s not that important. You can always go somewhere else.
I think the chances that the oil spill will hit the panhandle are very high. I don’t think there’s any doubt, at this point, that this will be the worst environmental disaster in our history. It will be much worse than the Exxon Valdez spill in Alaska!
I think you had better think about coming to North Carolina for your vacation. We have great beaches and our dogs love the water here!! Come see us!
