World Superbike rider, the best job in the world!
Hello to all World Superbike fans.
My first impression of walking through the pit gate is wow! see how many truck teams have money to think. With the tension felt as the circus was in town, yes it was the World Superbike circus.
What a life!
To travel to events all over the world, his glamorous.
To a biker the best job in the world would probably be to a rider in a glamorous team. What the public can not see is the commitment behind the scenes of riders and staff involved.
With the pressure of performing well in practice and qualifying riders have a lot of heart for to get a good set up for the races to come, this pressure on to mechanics and garage employees who equally want to do well.
Occasionally I would get a glimpse of a celebrity rider on the back of pit lane garage door, where there will be autograph hunters stood bet to get what they want, armed with pens and camera.
The riders were happy to sign autographs, I could detect a small amount of hesitation at times because of schedule they keep.
A special time I remember Max Biaggi to make his way in and out of the garage door on their way to the big trailer parked ten feet away, trying to do its best for fans with pens he made it back to the garage door.
When Max Biaggi got halfway through about pulling the door closed behind him, he stopped and turned to a young boy stood who lost his chance to see super star, with a charge hesitation Max Biaggi quickly signed an autograph. a picture of this can be seen in our gallery at motopsychos.co.uk.
The event now runs behind the garage wall is twenty or more team trucks with trailers are all aligned with the sponsors logo's. The back truck team workers runs around with lots to do like running Eran lower parts to be used for garage.
An Eran being driven was getting tires mounted on wheels, with a single tire manufacturer Pirelli race series tires were there to support the event.
The tire installers on Pirelli bases worked hard all day, with each team is allocated a certain amount of race & qualifying tires, team members stand with a rack wagon loaded up with wheels with used tires to be removed.
Pirelli! what a turnout, two bases each had about six deck machinery lined out nicely, my main observation was the amount of tires stacked & tortured every costs around £ 200
After being around the garage for some time I got excepted to come in closer and see what was happening, I could see how busy each team member was, and the importance of not getting in the way, men with laptops and mechanics changing set-ups, each was thoughtfully with the job at hand.
Rider Tom Sykes explained how team members have many jobs. The truck driver can cook and mechanics assistant, Evan beautiful grid girls all have other jobs making every body in the team work so hard together.
Observatory, The bigger the team the greater hospitality and more work to be done, the size hospitality of these suits is unreal that the amount of work creating this is unbelievable.
After the last race workers soon begin to empty the garages, while others put bikes away in hidden compartments in trailers, busy as ants are a way to describe. This is when I realized how much the team members work, time to settle it was put up just a few days before. This is to be repeated at the next venue after spending days on the road.
So next time you watch a race on TV or go along to see the place has an opinion about the people behind the scenes that make it possible for this great event to take place.
