Was my intuition that 55 y / o never been married male would be unable to have a mature relationship?
I went out with this guy for three months and had a great time with him, although some of the things he did was a little strange. When I told him that I suspect I got a staph infection from him that he completely dumped me. When we first started going out I wondered why he never married. So when I came to know him better I realized that he was a kind of childish, but still charming. For example, he has a home that is stacked on rafters with kitschy things: cartoon character dolls, about 300 matchbox cars, airplanes hanging from the ceiling, rubber ducks in the bathtub. The rest of the decor was poor (for a person with a good income as him). It was all old and very old grampa-esque. He had also several cars he worked on his farm and kept sci-fi channel on 24 hours a day. I keep an eye on this, he said he loved me. How could he dump me so quickly. Does he not have room in his life (or his house) for a mature relationship?
I think your intuition was dead on! And the fact that he dumped you so fast, was actually a blessing. You should have a miserable future with him.
